Condensation between the panes? You do not need new windows. We replace the glass unit in your existing frame, usually within a week.
If your double glazing has gone cloudy, foggy or has water droplets trapped between the two panes of glass, the sealed unit has failed. The seal around the edge has broken down, moisture has crept into the cavity and the insulating gas has escaped. It looks bad, blocks the view and means the window is no longer insulating properly.
The good news is that the frame is almost always fine. Hewitts Home Renovations measures the failed unit, has a new A-rated sealed unit made to the exact size and fits it into your existing frame. There is no need to replace the whole window, and the job typically takes 20 to 30 minutes per unit on site.
We replace misted units in uPVC, aluminium and timber frames, in windows, doors and conservatories, including shaped and Georgian-bar units. While we are there we can also upgrade the glass to low-emissivity energy-saving, obscure, toughened or acoustic glass, and fix any hinges, handles or locks that have failed.
We do not offer chemical demisting or drilling of the existing unit. Those methods remove the visible moisture temporarily but leave a unit with no insulating gas and a broken seal that will fog again. A new unit is the only proper fix and comes with a guarantee.

Replacing a misted sealed unit typically costs £90 to £250 depending on the size and type of glass. Large patio door panes and toughened or laminated units are at the upper end. We give you a price per unit after measuring.
The frame stays; only the glass unit is replaced. This is a repair to the window, not a replacement, and it restores full insulation.
The perimeter seal of the glass unit has failed, usually through age (15 to 25 years), sun exposure or poor drainage in the frame letting water sit against the seal. Once moisture is inside the cavity it cannot dry out.
We measure on the first visit and fit the new unit on the second, usually within a week. Fitting takes around 20 to 30 minutes per unit.
New units are guaranteed against seal failure. We also check the frame drainage to make sure water is not sitting against the new seal.
