Doors that stick, drop, will not lock or let in draughts can usually be fixed in a single visit. We repair uPVC, composite and aluminium doors.
A door that has to be lifted to lock, catches on the frame, whistles in the wind or has a handle that flops about is annoying and often insecure. Hewitts Home Renovations repairs uPVC, composite and aluminium front doors, back doors, French doors, patio doors and bifolds across our five counties.
The most common repair is a dropped door: the hinges have worn or moved so the door no longer lines up with the keeps. We adjust or replace the hinges and realign the door so it locks smoothly. We also replace failed multipoint locks and gearboxes, upgrade cylinders to anti-snap, fit new handles and letterplates, replace shrunken weather seals and thresholds, and fit new glass units where the glass is misted or broken.
For patio and bifold doors we replace worn rollers and running gear, adjust the tracks and renew the brush seals so the doors glide again.
Most repairs are completed on the first visit from stock parts. If a specific lock or gearbox needs ordering we secure the door and return within a few days. If the door itself is beyond economic repair we will tell you and quote for a replacement.
