New Front Doors Fitted Locally

Your front door does more work than any other part of your home. It is the first thing visitors see, the main barrier against intruders and one of the biggest sources of heat loss in an older property. Hewitts Home Renovations supplies and fits replacement front doors that improve all three: kerb appeal, security and warmth.

Most of our customers choose a composite front door. A composite door has a solid timber or high-density foam core wrapped in a tough GRP skin, so it has the substantial feel of timber without ever needing painting, and it will not warp, swell or fade. We offer both solid-core and standard composite ranges in traditional styles such as cottage, Victorian four-panel and Georgian, as well as modern flush and contemporary designs.

If budget is the priority, a uPVC front door is a sound, secure and low-maintenance option. For period homes and conservation areas we also fit heritage-style doors with authentic panel detail and glazing bars that satisfy planning requirements while giving modern insulation and security.

Every front door is manufactured to your exact measurements with your choice of colour inside and out, glass design, letterplate, knocker, handle and side panels or top light. We remove and dispose of your old door, fit the new frame and door, check every lock and seal, make good around the opening and leave your entrance clean and finished in a single visit.

Front Doors: Your Questions Answered

How much does a new front door cost fitted?

A fitted composite front door usually costs between £1,100 and £2,200 depending on style, glass and hardware. A uPVC front door is typically £700 to £1,200 fitted. Side panels, top lights and premium hardware add to the price. We give a fixed written quote after a free home visit.

What is the most secure type of front door?

A solid-core composite door with a multipoint lock and a Secured by Design approved anti-snap cylinder is the most secure option we fit. The solid core cannot be kicked through and the locking points engage along the full height of the door.

Will a new front door make my house warmer?

Yes. Modern composite and uPVC doors have insulated cores, double or triple glazing and compression seals that stop draughts. Replacing an old timber or first-generation uPVC door usually makes the hallway noticeably warmer.

How long does it take to fit a front door?

The installation itself takes around half a day. Your door is made to measure, which usually takes two to four weeks from placing the order.

Can I have a different colour inside and out?

Yes. Composite doors can be one colour outside and white or another colour inside. Frames can be colour-matched or contrasting.
